I am Alive
Yes,Yes....I am well aware it has been over a month since I posted.......I have a good excuse-I had a baby (as anyone who reads this blog anyway probably already knows).
Things are going well-Kyan is pretty easy, as babies go. In case you somehow missed the mass email I sent out, have not talked to me by phone, or otherwise live under a rock, he came on July 24th at 4:55am (10 days early-GOOD KID!) after a 6 hour labor, and was 9 pounds, 2 oz., and 21 inches long (THANK GOD I did not go late-I would have given birth to a toddler). When they put him on my stomach as soon as he came out, he picked his head straight up and looked right at me. At his 2 weeks appt., he'd already grown 1/2 an inch. And at a pediatrician appt. yesterday, he was up to 11 lbs. At this rate, he'll be asking Jon to borrow his razor to shave by the time he is 4 months old.
Jon has been a great Dad-he gets up with me for the mid-night feeding (usually between 1 and 3 am) to help out.....Since Kyan thought my nipples were for chewing instead of sucking, I have been pumping my breastmilk....So Jon feeds the bambino while I pump. Then, it's diaper changing time and usually back to bed without too much of a problem.
Likewise, the grandparents on both sides are complete mushes.......My Father-in-law will spend hours just staring at Kyan. It's very cute.
Like any new, proud parents, we are convinced that our child is a genius, bound for Harvard. Unfortuneatly for Kyan, his parents will only be able to afford to send him community college, so he'd better get a scholarship. But at 1 month old, he holds his head up pretty well (he has from birth), and when he has tummy time on either me or Jon, he will use his legs and elbows to push himself up us, like an early form of crawling. And he is very alert when he's awake, and stares very intently (and if you know anything about babies at this age, they really can't see more than 18" to 2' in front of them-So unless I am in his face, it's anyone's guess as to what he is so focused on).
Pictures will be forthcoming, I promise...between being a titty bar for the little guy and changing diapers and burping, there is not always lots of extra time, but I promise I will get on it.....
