35 Weeks, 1 Day

I am on a BIG TIME fruit kick right now......Strawberries, Blueberries, Grapes, Apples......In the heat of ssummer, it all sounds pretty damn good to me...I have been eating PINTS of blueberries in one sitting and strawberries for breakfast has been a craving of mine since the beginning 0f my second trimester...Mmmmmm...Making myself hungry!

I actually finished the last of the baby laundry!!! Now I just have to put it away......But that means that Baby Room photos will soon be forthcoming!

Over the next few weeks, when you read this blog, you may find me endlessly analyzing any odd pregnancy quirks and wondering if that means I will go into labor soon.......So bear with me...It just means I a tired of being pregnant and I am ready to meet this baby. At any rate, I am off-to try and work on the baby's room and try and get this kid's foot out of my ribcage.....Happy weekend!

35 Weeks

Only 5 more weeks, if this little (or not so little) guy is on time. Although, really, baby, I would be totally fine with it if you wanted to arrive say......2 or 3 weeks early........Just DON'T be late......Mom likes punctual people, and we certainly don't want to get this relationship started off onthe wrong foot, do we? On a similar vein, if you are reading this, please don;t predict how late I could go...it is a downright cruel and inhuman thing to tell a pregnant lady that she'll go past her due date. And you don;t want to piss me off, because at some point, I will no longer be pregnant, and will then give you a mighty ass kicking if you are one of the aforementioned people.

So, it's Friday, which always makes me happy. I am sitting in my air conditioned bedroom with my feet up, using my laptop for work. This set up works quite well, as it allows me to keep some of my sanity, and being able to elevate my feet prevents them from looking like water balloons with vienna sausages for toes (which is what they resembled earlier this week).

I am still working my way through the baby's room and it's mountain of laundry, but I promise you will be able to walk in there without cringing at some point in the near future.......Other than that, not too much of note to report....

Oh wait, yes, one more thing-Why is it that the ONLY button down nightgown I could find for nursing at the hospital is HIDEOUS? I purchased a blue and white striped sleeveless nightgown with a button front, and flower embroidery along the yoke.......It looks like something an 85 year old itialian grandmother would wear. If you by chance come to see me in hospital once I've pushed this kid out, feel free to laugh, because what I will be wearing will be a truly heinous sight.

34 Weeks, 4 Days

So, 34 Weeks ands 4 Days...But really...Who's counting?? Passed my third glucose test, so I had pie for breakfast to celebrate...Just kidding-I had Special K with Red Berries, but pie sounds good.

We are currently having a mini-heatwave here in Western Mass, with temps in the low 90's, when they are usually at like, 79 degrees this time of year.....Bless my Father-in-law's heart, he gave Jon money for us to buy another air conditioner, since one of our 2 old ones crapped out ("I don't want my daughter-in-law to be uncomfortable"), which we bought last night and put into my tiny office........Ah, cool air.....

Aside from my constant backache, lack of sleep, sore and swollen feet and ankles and 2 ton stomach, things are good. I am convinced this baby is trying to make an exit THRU my belly button the way he is pushing lately, but unless I unwittingly became part of the cast of Aliens or Spaceballs, he has only one option regarding exit strategy here. That being said, I am STRONGLY considering offering my doctors bribes of money to induce me because I am SO ready to be done. For all the pregnant mamas out there who feel fabulous-Good for you! But if you tell me how great you feel, I will give you a great big fistful of "Why-I-Oughta"......My mood is such these days that any perky types I run into will be going down, and with very little fanfare.

Just so I can put you mind at ease (because I know you are all thinking that given my slacker tendencies, this kid would be sleeping in the drawer of a dresser in an otherwise empty room), the baby's room is slowly coming along-Most of the clothes are washed and I am slowly but surely putting them away. This weekend, I even unpacked some of the baby gear-The Pack N' Play, the Baby Papasan, and the Baby Swing all got put together. No matter that my living room now resembles a day care center-Least the boxes are put away.....It's a step in the right direction.

Also, let me just put this out there for anyone reading-If you have a pool, I will SO be your new best friend-I will happily let you poke fun at me in my awful maternity bathing suit, thunder thighs and all, if you'll let Old Shamu here float around for an hour or two in your pool. Sounds enticing, doesn't it?? You know you wanna a piece of this......

Also-Anyone want to cook for me?? (kind of sort of just kidding) Cooking is SO not happening right now.......Lucky for me, Jon's efforts in the garden are paying off, so we have plenty of fresh organic lettuce, and will soon have red peppers, cucumbers, cauliflower and tomatoes. So we won't starve...we'll just eat like rabbits for a while.

Well, that is pretty much it for now...tonight is another fun filled Labor and Delivery class at the hospital, where we get to see icky videos with crowning baby crotch shots and shown repeatedly EXACTLY what 10 cm dialated looks like (I totally THOUGHT I wanted to go drug free for birth before seeing that, but now realize I was completely insane). Fun, fun, fun.

34 Weeks

Okay, so I FINALLY dragged my ass out of bed this morning and went for my THIRD glucose test. I won't get the results till Monday, which means if they are bad, at least I had this weekend to pig out on the ice cream...

I also finally managed to make some progress on the baby's room. I FINALLY grabbed some of the baby outfits, our 10 hooded towels, innumerable washcloths, and 4, 645, 234 receiving blankets, and began the washing process, which includes DREFT and NO dryer sheets. I have done endless folding, which will be followed by endless organizing and putting away.....fun will be had by......well, no one.

I also managed to drag myself OUT of the house last night (gasp! What's that you say? You put on REAL clothes and LEFT THE HOUSE??) with Jon's help, and we went to Target, where a shelf was purchased for the baby's room (to go above the changing table and hold all his fancy butt and diaper rash creams), as well as some storage containers for the clothes he is not wearing at the moment, and to Babies R' Us, where we bought a hamper for all the dirty clothes the aforementioned baby will soil, and some pants, since the little man will NEVER run out of onesies, but was a bit lacking in the pants department. And since it is deemed not socially acceptable to be sans pants as an adult (male), I gotta get him used to it at some point. I kept gravitating to the cute little bathing suits for babies, but Jon will not allow me to put our son in an infant bikini, even if they ARE way cuter then the little boy swim trunks.

Also, if you ever considered renting "Employee of the Month", save yourself the trouble and put a pencil through your eye instead. My dear husband put this on our movie queue and wanted to watch it last night. I wasn't expecting great comedy here, but the movie was practically ANTI-funny. And because Jon just ADORES movies that become a train wreck as you watch them, I had to watch the WHOLE THING-ALL THE WAY THROUGH. The only torture I can think of worse than this would be watching The O'Reilly Factor on a constant loop.....

Week 33 (and 6 days)

Another day, and I am still fat and pregnant....

I continue to put off going for my third (yes, third) glucose test.....I will go tomorrow morning. I am just so damn tired, I cannot seem to muster up the energy to drag myself out the door. Plus, what if it comes back positive this time?? I am really not sure I can survive the rest of pregnancy without ice cream........That's just too cruel to do to a pregnant woman........

Pictures of the finished nursery will shortly forthcoming, as soon as....well, as soon as I get off my ass and clean the room up and put everything away.......Right now, there are baby products covering EVERY surface...But then, the same can be said for the rest of my house as well-Anyone who enters this abode can be in NO doubt that we have a little one on the way.

We had our third birthing class the other night. We got a tour of the birthing facilities, and go to see a 1 hour old baby being wheeled into the nursery! Wow-That definitely drove home the fact that it wil be us in a few weeks. It's like it suddenly dawned on me: "You'll have this baby, then they'll want you to take it HOME".........YIKES!

Week 33 (and 5 days)

Had the craziest dream last night, where the baby was born at 36 weeks, weighing 10 lbs, 4 oz (OUCH FOR ME), and was okay, except for that he had Rotovirus (not even sure what that is!) and had to stay at the hospital. I actually woke up thinking: "I have to call the hopital and see how he's doing." Weird, right?

At any rate, not much to report except that I am constantly tired, achey, and look like Humpty Dumpty with tree trunks for legs at this point-It all makes for a very inviting package when Jon comes home from work every day :-)
