All I want for Christmas is my boobs back

Well, it seems we have survived the Christmas craziness.......To top it all off, somewhere along the line, I thought getting the baby christened 2 days before Christmas (when me, Jon, AND my Mother all work, and we have to travel DOWN to Pennsylvania for the holiday) seemed like a good idea...(I've really gotta lay off the martinis and crystal meth).

But, here we are, back home and in one piece......Kyan was a trooper throught the whole thing......with all the activity, the only time he got good naps in was Christmas Eve, but he still managed to be super adorable.....All the women I know down in PA were gushing over him, and I have the feeling that if I had not been around to monitor the situation, he would have gotten some pairs of panties thrown his way.

In all the craziness of packing for the holiday trip, we did of course forget our video camera, so we have no video to memorialize Christmas Day and Kyan's complete lack of comprehension of what the holiday is for (meaningless overspending and alcoholic consumption are the values we intend to instill in Kyan regarding the Christmas Season)....He did, however, mightily enjoy a smorgasbord of tasty wrapping paper...So many designs to eat...so little time. And of course, what pictures we did manage to capture on our digital camera were left down at my parents house, so I have no cute pictures to post.

At any rate, Kyan is now the proud owner of many new toys, most of which require batteries and make annoying noises-YIPPEE! And thanks to my generous friends and relatives, We can now buy Kyan his next carseat-A Britax Marathon-an overpriced convertible carseat which we are forking out the moola for because it gets a very high rating from Consumer Reports, and because it fits kids up to 65 pounds....and since children need some sort of additional seating device in cars till they are around 80 pounds (I knew 16 year old bitchy girls who never reached that weight!), Kyan can hopefully use this seat for quite a while.

So that is all the news.....Our house looks like a hurrican of Christmas decorations and boxes.....AHHhhhhhh, the holidays.....

Santa's Little Helper Gets a Haircut

Yes, my 5 month old (as of Monday, Dec. 24!) needs a haircut....He's currently rocking a ROd Stewart type hairdo....Ironically/sadly, I was a total baldie till well over a year old....

So, this is his "Before" pic.....Grammie Pammie and Grandpop just left to go take him for his haircut:

So cute you'll vomit....

Well, we went and got Ky's pictures done at Sears yesterday-he was SO good-AND adorable......Hamming it up for the camera...

He also had his 4 month check up today. He is 15 lbs, 3 oz., and is 26 inches long....He's gonna be tall like his Daddy, I think :-)

We also got out Christmas tree this weekend-I will be posting pics this week of all my Christmas decorating!

Now for the pics:

Thankful

I know it's been a while since I updated here...Work has kept me busy and stressed, and now that the holidays are upon us, I don't foresee any kind of let up.....But be that as it may, I would like to say although I often use this blog as a bitch-fest, I am grateful and Thankful for many things. Namely:
-My beautiful son, Kyan, who just turned 4 months old on Nov. 24th:

-My wonderful husband, Jon, who has been putting up with my moodiness and general frustration with life lately:
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
-My Mother, Father, and Sister, and my in-laws, who are all wonderful and all manage to drive my crazy in their own, unique ways....
-The new friends I have made this year...My friends from Babycenter, who have truly been a lifeline..
--The nice couple I met in birthing class-Lori and Chris and their son, Rowan, who is was born just 4 days after Ky....It's been so much fun getting to know them, and great to have someone close by who is in all the same stages with their baby as me...
--Chad and Marcie, who are sweet and easy to be friends with....and have asked us to be in their wedding next June-Jon and I are honored.
--Seth and Julie, and their daughter Joleen...Sweet people, with big, big hearts...
-I am likewise grateful that my grandmother, who is about to turn 80 and has had some health problems these last few months, is doing okay at the moment, and has gotten to see and hold Ky; and that my Uncle Bob (who refers to Kyan as "Pepper") and who suffers from ALS has been able to see the baby.

At any rate, there is much to be Thankful for-not nearly all of it is listed above......I will be psoting pics, hopefully in the next week or so, so you can see our finished Living room, as well as all the Christmas decorations we are putting up.......I leave you with this final pic......which is precisely why I had children-to torture them with silly photo ops!

Some new pics

Sorry for my last post-I am a really good whiner.....Hope Ky does not inherit that trait.....We started him on rice cereal at lunch this past week, since he gets SO hungry around 3:30pm-4:00pm, and I am not done work till 5pm.....and nursing AND working at the same time is pretty impossible....At any rate, it seems to be tiding him over till I can nurse him at 5pm, which is good, but I am sure I will hear it from the pediatrician at his 4 month appointment.....I've probably damned him to a life of obesity and comic book collecting or something....

Jon's and my wedding anniversary is coming up on Nov. 13 (3 years! Bet you all thought he'd have killed me by now cause I'm such a pain in the ass, huh?), so we are going out to dinner at The Federal, which is a really nice restaurant in Agawam-mmm...Yummy food and wine......Grammie Pammie and Grandpop will be watching Ky Guy while we are out.....Anyone have any suggesitons on what I should wear??

Pity Party at my house

I'd like to just take a moment to wallow in a bit of self pity here......

Ever tried to watch a young infant hiwl at the same time trying to work? It's hard...really hard...
Every day that Kyan has good naps (During the hours that I work), is followed by a day where he refuses to nap. And although I try to time his feedings so that he doesn't get hungry while I am working (10am-12pm and 2-5pm), he invariably gets hungry in the last hour of the day....So i have to feed him in my desk chair, while I am working, usually on the phone AND typing. And it fucking sucks. I'm not giving Kyan the attention he wants during the day...if he's up, he starts fussing and crying, which will cease as soon as I pick him up-He just wants to be held. But I can't hold him and get work done at the same time. ANd I am so frustarted because I am not being the happy, loving Mom that Kyan deserves during those hours. When he fusses while I am trying to work, I get so upset...Not with him-None of this is his fault and he is just a baby-I just wish I could take the time to really soothe him....but if I don't do my work, then I risk getting fired by my temperamental boss...And we can't pay the mortgage without me working. I feel awful when I know he just wants my attention and wants to play and is smiling at me, but instead, I am taking dictation from my boss. So Ya-fucking-hoo for the liberated woman-I fail as a Mother AND an employee..and that feels just AWESOME.

If you read throught that entire paragraph, Congratulations. AS a reward, you can view the below pic of Kyan in his Halloween sweats...

Ever notice how it's WAY easier to write about someone else than yourself? I seem to have fallen into this rut......It's way ewasier to post a few cute pics of Kyan than to post anything about myself...mostly because I have nothing interesting going on.....I wake up, I nurse the baby, I play with the baby, I nurse again, I put the baby down for nap, I work, I nurse...lather, rinse, repeat.....I take comfort in knowing that anyone who checks this blog WANTS to hear about the baby and NOT me anyway.

My sister's birthday is coming up, so Jon, the baby and I will be heading down to PA to visit (don't see anyone coming up here, though, do ya??)

Aside from that....Yes, my life really IS that boring.....

Three Months

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

My dear Kyan:

Yesterday you were Three months old. I would have written this post yesterday, but you were too busy screaming into my ear for me to be able to sit down and write.

You have come a long way since we brought you home. You now smile and laugh. You also know how to stick out your lower lip so we can more easily tell when you are pissed off, which is more often now. Your begining to learn how to grasp things-Namely: My hair, your hair, my nosering, or my nipple when you are nursing.

You are starting to sit up, though not on your own-You are growing more accustomed to your Bumbo seat. You sit there as if that is your throne, and you are just waiting for some little girl babies in togas to come along and feed you grapes...not that you could EAT grapes, yet....

We make sure to give you tummy time each day, which means we lay you on your stomach and cheer you on as you whine miserably about the impossibility of trying to lift your head up for such an extended period of time. Eventually, you just give up and start blowing snots all over your playmat.

You recently learned "cause and effect". When we feed you a bottle in the morning and take it out of your mouth to burp you, you scream as if the world were a truly horrible place and no injustice is greater than that nipple being removed from your piehole. Just to be sure we get the point, you will turn your head and mouth TOWARDS my or your father's ear so you can scream DIRECTLY into it-Just in case we didn't realize how pissed you were. As soon as you are back in position for your bottle, you immediatly calm down, because you know you are about to get the bottle back.

You frequenly go from smiling and giggly to a pouty lower lip or full out crying, leading your father and I to believe that you may be bi-polar. Luckily, we are prepared for this. By the time you are old enough to swallow pills, you will be so medicated as to make Courtney Love look normal. If meds don't work, I plan on locking you in a room while I drink full bottles of vodka.

We recently transitioned you to your crib in your own room so that your sleep toots and morning poop grunts do not wake us up-Which is not to say we don't love you, just that you are the world's loudest pooper, and Mommy and Daddy prefer sleep over the sounds brought forth from your butt cheeks.

All in all, it has been a fairly easy three months...Which is why I am sure you will shortly turn into the anti-christ....Just, ya know, to keep us on our toes....

Love,
Mama

Conversation with Ky #2

And here is another video of me and Ky conversing...In this clip, we cover Ky's hairstyle, what he thinks of Britney Spears, shout-outs to family, and his present for me....(Sorry it's sideways again)..

ALMOST Friday....

Ugh-The weekend can't come soon enough..I am pooped..I LOVE being home with Kyan, don;t get me wrong...but taking care of a baby is WORK, and so with working from home as an Executive Assistant, it's like working TWO jobs...And I am exhausted....Anyway, here are 2 new pics of the little guy....

Recent Pics

This past weekend we went out Pumpkin picking...it was a GORGEOUS day and highly enjoyable. Kyan didn;t get that much out of the excursion, but Mom and Dad certainly enjoyed themselves!

Looking for the perfect pumpkin....

In Adult Land, Jon and I will be going out on an actual DATE this weekend (we have not been out without the baby since he was born nearly 3 months ago)...Grammy Pammy and GrandPop are watching Kyan while Jon and I go to dinner and a movie-WOOHOO-I won't even have to stop eating my dinner to nurse or give him a bottle-And we won't have to draw straws to see who gets to do the next diaper change! Oh, the luxury! Last time we went to go see a movie, Ky was about 2.5 weeks old, and we went to a matinee of the "The Simpson's Movie", and I go to see about 3/4 of it before the baby started fussing, so I walked out of the theater. So this time, I will get to see a WHOLE movie....YAY!!

In the world of baby milestones, Kyan is now holding his head up really well-we try to make sure to give him belly time each day. He is smiling and laughing a lot, particularly after a really good poop. He also has developed a really good grasp-cause' he has ripped several fistfuls of my hair out.

So that is what is new in Beckyland.....

Kyan's outfit for today

I dressed Kyan all cute because he and Jon are going to go and walk around the mall today while I get a pedicure-I haven't had a real pedicure since I was 30 weeks pregnant! I am SO looking forward to this, while simultaneously feeling bad for whoever will have to work on my feet......

Crazy Hair

If someone's future career could be based on his hair, I would have to guess that Kyan is either destined to be like Albert Einstein, Art Garfunkel, possibly Andy Warhol-Or maybe Don King. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket And here is video of Jon and I making asses out of ourselves to get Ky's attention while he ignores us completely....I LOVE being a parent.
For your daily dose of all things Kyan:

Things are well (as well as they can be when you hate, loathe, and abominate your job). Ky continues to be a pooping machine-Thank goodness we do cloth at least SOME of the time, cause this kid fills enough diapers to fill a landfill on his very own. He's starting to "respond" when we talk to him-with coos and shrieks of course, but it's fun that the conversations aren't so one-sided anymore.

As for me, not much to report. Working on losing my fat ass, slowly but surely. Hoping to win the lottery. Halloween is coming up....Kyan will be a Lobster, Thanks to my cousin Julia lending me the costume she used on her now 2 year old daughter.

I am also racking my brain to try and figure out what to get Jon for our wedding Anniversary (our 3rd). He is SO hard to buy for-I'd LOVE to take him away for a weekend, but we don't hve the money for that. If you have any ideas, feel free to post them under "comments", cause I got nuthin'.

And, Oh, joy of joys, I will be cooking Thanksgiving this year. With a 4 month old...JUST what I feel like doing. This came about as: "Oh, I'll order the turkey and drop it off at your house the day before. And I'll bring pie." Perhaps I'll put laxatives in the stuffing so that no one stays too long.....

I'm so crafty.....

As the title of this post implies, I was feeling a bit crafty today. I often use a Hotsling, which is a pouch sling made to carry a baby around in. Ky is generally pretty happy in his sling, and they are a more attractive alternative to a plain old Baby Bjorn. Well, I had some pretty blue Chinese silk brocade fabric laying around, and thought it would be nice to have another sling in a different fabric. So I used my Hotsling as a template, and VOILA!......

Here is the Hotsling I have and used as my template:

What The F***??

Okay, so today is October 5th, and the high will be 88 degrees-yes, 88. It's fall people! I wanna be able to break out my sweaters! I want to be able to put Ky in all the cute cool weather outfits he has that are 0-3 month and won't fit him by next week (they probably don't fit him now, at this point)!

Otherwise, all I can say is: Thank God it is Friday. I forgot how much working sucks, even if you only do it part time. Clearly, I should have married a milionaire so I could stay at home and eat bon-bons all day....Bummer :-( Perhaps we will win the lottery, so I can actually live out this fantasy.....

My kid is so frickin' cute!

I just had to post these 2 pics because they are SO cute......The first one is Ky and my friend Julie's baby, Joleen-It cracks me up the way JoJo is all happy looking, and Ky is all aloof and staring off into the distance like he is too cool for her or something.....it should be the cover for a toddler romance novel.

The next one is Ky's outfit for today-The overalls have little alligators embroidered on them-How cute is that??

Which end of the gene pool did our kid swim in?

Just think of all the potential uses for above....Not sure who your Baby Daddy is? Just upload both guys pics on the site, and the meter will tell you who spawned your offspring......Britney Spear's kids could start playing with it, just HOPING they resemble Papa more than Mama (how sad is that??) I could go on and on.....

Boring in Real Life

As per my sister and cousin, I am much more interesting when I write in my blog than I am in real life-So, I will update you all here, in the interest of not boring my family members to DEATH.

Kyan had his 2 month pediatricians appointment today (sniff-They grow up so fast)....he is 13 lbs, 1 oz, and 24 1/2 inches long, which puts him in the 95th percentile for both height and weight....which pretty much means I will go into the poorhouse buying this kid food and clothes as he grows......He also got his vaccinations, which has made him a bit fussy today.

Kyan has started to smile and giggle and coo, which is fun-I make a total ass of myself many times a day trying to illicit the above mentioned smiles and giggles. Everyone told us his hair would fall out, since he was born with a full head of it.....And it has not.....There is a pouf of hair on the crown of his head that makes his hair very much resemble Christopher Walken's....pretty amusing. It's also getting blonder.

In all respects, Ky is a wonderful baby-very easy going most of the time. We took him to Jon's grandmother's wedding (2nd marriage) on Saturday, and he was awake but quiet for the whole service, and was happily passed around like a hot potato at the reception. He's travelled back and forth to PA twice already, been to the Big E State Fair here, to the park, to the mall, up and around Northampton......he's been pretty easy on me....

Jon's parents bought us a video camera so that we can capture every adorable and embarassing moment for posterity. We made a video of him getting a bath the other night, which I hope to post soon......

As for me, I am just enjoying every minute with the baby......I go "back" to work next week (still working from home, but on a reduced schedule so the baby can stay home with me). Not looking forward to that.....other than that.....lost all my pregnancy weight...but believe me, I am not bragging, because I still have 40 pre-pregnancy pounds to lose, specially since I am in a wedding next summer. I continue to be a milk machine for my kid, ever tethered to my breast pump.....Just say MOOOOOOO........Got Milk?

Other than that, not much to report.....Hope to post some more pics soon......
